Today’s guest is A.R. Moler, whose latest ebook is an MMF erotic romance entitled In Danger and Under Fire that was just released by JMS Books!
About In Danger and Under Fire:
There’s nothing like trying to write a book set largely in the Middle East for teaching you about Syria and Iraq. How many hours to drive from Baghdad to Hawija? What’s the weather like? What might be available as local cuisine?
All these are things I ended up looking up while writing In Danger and Under Fire. I also used a world event that happened in Hawija as a frame for the plot involving hostage rescue, which taught me things I didn’t know about the Iraqi police force.
In describing the research I was doing to one of my students, he asked if I wrote political thrillers or military adventure books. This amused me to no end, because my answer was, “I write erotic romance books.” I have a deep affection for high risk, technical, and jargon-heavy characters. Maybe it’s tied in to my own technical background in chemistry, even if what I do tends to be sedate career-wise. There is a closet adrenaline junkie in my soul though, and the characters I create reflect that.
Mike Rousseau, Kurt Halstead, and Maggie Degginger come together amidst danger and chaos. Some of the stories I write are “one-offs” that will likely never see another visit to those imaginary friends in my head. Others are forever and have stories yet to tell. The rough draft for a sequel in already complete, titled In Danger and Falling Fast. And there is a possibility of a third book lurking in my mind because falling in love is often the first step, not the last.
Mike Rousseau works for Navy Intelligence, Kurt Halstead is a Senior Chief Petty Officer and a SEAL, and Maggie Degginger is an agent for Homeland Security. Mike and Maggie meet during an operation, and the resulting heat between them is scorching but brief. Shortly thereafter, Mike and Kurt are assigned to be working partners.
Then life throws them a curveball. Mike gets seriously hurt. Mike and Kurt finally give in to their attraction, but Kurt is double-crossed in-country and gets left behind, wounded. He manages to let Mike know that their chain of command is compromised. Mike needs help and reaches out to someone he knows in Homeland, who in turn assigns Maggie. One rescue mission, in progress.
Traitors aside, it isn’t that Kurt doesn’t know about Mike’s previous fling with Maggie. He does. So when the three of them get together, the heat is so high, they all three just might burn.
