11th Day of Christmas

I can’t believe I’ve actually managed to post for 11 consecutive days, though I will admit I’m running out of topics. This is why I don’t blog often. So instead of talking about the holidays (because I’m out of things to talk about, to be honest), I’m going to talk about next year instead.

For the past few years, I’ve usually had releases scheduled for several months in advance at this point of the season. By Christmas, I’ve known what books of mine will be published as far out as Valentine’s Day, if you’ll believe it. And yet this year, it’s different. This year, I don’t really have anything scheduled for release. Oh, I have a few short stories scheduled to be uploaded to Fictionwise through eXcessica, stories that are already available on my own site and on other affiliate sites such as All Romance eBooks and whatnot, but as for new releases?

I only have one scheduled ~ Rockstar, which I probably would have published by now if I wasn’t still waiting on the cover from the artist. Well no, make that two. I also have a paperback collection scheduled for release by Amber Allure ~ Hard At Work, which will be released at the end of January. Other than that?

Nothing.

Well again, no. That isn’t quite true. I’ve talked with Amber Allure about releasing the fourth book in my V series at the end of February, but I haven’t started it yet. I have two short stories vying for attention in my head at the moment ~ a contemporary entitled Unconventional and a sci-fi short tentatively titled Pwned, neither of which I’ve started. I have a novel I’m halfway finished, that historical western I started last year I was calling Soiled. And I have a spreadsheet of my short stories that haven’t been put into paperbacks yet, all sorted by genre as I try to figure out how best to group them into a self-published collection.

I’m thinking tomorrow I will start something new. I would’ve liked to do it tonight, but I’m still up in the air about what exactly wants to be written next. The sci-fi story is really strong at times, but the contemporary story would fit nicely into a collection I already have mostly finished. Then there’s the Vic and Matt I’ve promised Amber Allure. At times like this, it’s easier just to turn off the computer and see what’s on the Discovery channel instead, you know?

Have you made any plans for next year yet?

I’m going to visit my daughter in January. She lives in Las Vegas and her birthday is in January. I am also going to visit my mom in Arkansas for her 80th birthday in February. I’m going to meet my brother and sister and surprise her like we did for her 75th birthday. So far, that is all that I have planned. I don’t like to think too far ahead with the exception of planning another wedding that will take place on 2011.

This year was the first time I was published–twice. So it made 2009 an amazing year.

The goal is to have that continue in 2010. I’ve got a novel that I’ve been working on for a couple years now that I can see the end of the road on and for ‘10 the idea is to get it into print. Plus, there are short stories bouncing around in my head too.

    2010 here I come!

I’m planning on going back to school next year. I also want to get into practice of exercising regularly…so health is definitely a priority for me.

I don’t have any plans for next year that are the same as the last few years. Except my daughter is now pregnant. I’m going to be a grandma come July. I’m sure that will entail some changes in our lives, but I’ll have to wait and see if she decides to live at home for now or to move away.

Next year my goal is to finally move to the east coast and apply for job that has SOMETHING to do with my degree. I’m tired of working at a regular job, I want to start my career.
